Youngsters meet sporting challenge

ELEVEN sports teams from Rother schools took part in this year's BAA Sussex Youth Games in Horsham on Monday.

They joined more than 2,000 youngsters county-wide for the tournament and the teams selected to represent the area had come through heats and trials locally.

Schools involved included Bexhill High, St Richard's, Thomas Peacocke, Claverham and Robertsbridge as well as 10 primary schools from across the district.

Support from teachers, clubs and the public led to several personal bests and organisers say it was a memorable experience.

Bexhill's St Peter and St Paul and St Richard's reached the semi finals in both tag rugby competitions.

Teams in athletics, netball and swimming were also in the top six local authorities and several individuals from the area won gold medals.
